Wedding gown, fotos and food tasting session

Last thursday i went to Bridal Concept to remind my designer to add more details to my Made to measure Wedding gown. I ask her to add more crystals to make it shine, but it seems she is reluctant to add more. I guess i have to persuade her more.

We received quite a couple of comments on our Photoshoot fotos. Generally, both parents think that my indoor WG (i.e. actual day gown) is better looking than the outdoor one. The outdoor WG is a high waist gown and my mum comments tat makes me look like pregnant??!! Anyway, my outdoor EG also didn't receive much good comments, but the indoor one is okie. *phew*.

We noticed 2 loose threads from my indoor EG while browsing the fotos. I have inform my coordinator on thu to censor away the 2 thread when they print the album. I hope they will remember. We also noticed the difference in colour in that particular nail which i have repeatedly smulge the colour (see previous postings on PS).

I also remind my coordinator not to let other bride try on my WG, cos i heard a rather bad experience from another forummer (same bridal shop) tat they let other people try on made to measure gown. It is really terrible bec our main reason for made to measure is to ensure that the gown is new. My coordinator says so far, they onie show to other brides but didn't let them try. I hope what she is says is true.

For the Jie Mei, we are still trying to arrange to find relatives who has unmarried daughters to help out. I hope everything will be fine.

Last week, I was so stressed out at the wedding and customary stuff that I told M dun know whether want to proceed with the wedding liao. I guess i am too stressed out over our financial status and the complicate customary and wedding preparations. Due to this wedding, we have exhaust our savings and in fact, we are quite in the red. The mattress which i have bot ored cost $3K and on instalment, so i still have to pay monthly. Plus, recently have to increase loan repayment for my university loan. Moreover, i worry that we may suffer losses in our wedding dinner bec' it seems that not many people know that our hotel banquet is $800 that much. So it is possible that they may pay less.

Last sunday, we have the parents meeting session - food tasting at Grand Plaza Parkroyal (our hotel)'s si chuan dou huan restaurant. The food tasting is at the restaurant but the actual day wedding banquet is at the ballroom.

We are quite satisfied with the food. The food menu is roughly:

1) Lobster salad - cold dish
2) Shark fin soup - it has crab meat etc and many other stuff but we request for more shark fin.
3) Fish - the fish is quite fresh and nice.
4) Drunken Prawns - quite fresh
5) Chicken with herbs - very tasty but we ask them to improve on presentation
6) Scallop - nice
7) *i forget what is this dish liao..*
8) Noodles with prawns - a lot of ingredients unlike other banquet food.
9) Tang Yuan - very nice! :)

The discussion on the ping jin and customary items are quite ok. *phew*. My mum is not very good at asking for such stuff and she is worried that my ILs won't be happy or that we ask for too much. Basically these are the items we requested:

1) 4 tables
2) 12 cans of "zhu jiao"
3) 12 oranges
4) Long feng candles - 1 pair
5) 28 cakes / fruit tarts
6) 2 bottles of liquor
7) $2888 in Ang Pow
8) Si Dian Jin - which my ILs have ored prepared
9) Rock sugar

My mum ask MIL what customary items she request from us, such as pants etc or to use ang pow to replace the item. My MIL want to save hassle so we agree to give one AP with money to represent the items. However, MIL is not v sure what items to request, so we also not sure what amount to put in side the Ang pow??.

Item 2, 3 and 7 we have to return some. So we request for lucky numbers so that its easier to return even number to ILs. Most of the items above we ask from our frens and relatives ( i oso check up the forum) before we finalise.. i guess these are the most basic items.

Heya, i understand how you feel, especially abt the financial part. I am undergoing renovation now and the cost just keeps going up. sobz, it has certainly caused me a fair bit of worry. Not to mention about parent's expections on different issues

But what's important is that you enjoy what's left of your preperations, after wedding is supposed to be a joyous event!so enjoy ourselves as we prepare the last few months, while spending withint our budget! :)

ROM Invitation card

This is just a sample of the card.. with the details deleted away. Just this week, i thought of designing a ecard for official invitation to my friends, and putting the details of the day and maps, so that it be useful for them. Initially wanted to send an ecard from those free cards website but they are not the kind i prefer. So in the end I source for pixs from several websites and use photoshop to add effects to the card. Heee, my brother says why I take so much effort to designing for just an ecard. Recently I have been vexed with some family matters complicated with the coming ROM. Really hope that these problems will be solved soon and the wedding preparation will be smooth sailing and peaceful.

Comments on Bridal Shops

Just to summarise my views on the following bridal shops i visited/seen. These are my personal views :- 1) J&C (Clark Quay) - Basic package: $5K. Not hard selling. Designer is very friendly and professional. Gowns concentrate more on lace. Photography is outsourced to other firms. 2) Flamingo (Tanjong Pagar) - Basic package: $5K. Not hard selling. Designer is not around when we go. The gowns are simple and creative. Photography is outsourced to other firms. 3) U Bridal (Tanjong Pagar) - Basic package: $2K+. Quite Hard selling. It is a new shop set up, so the gowns are very new but not many. Their photos are developed by Kodak, very nice. The Shop asst refused to give negatives even if we offered to pay. Give us the impression that they are not very negotiable. 4) Everbliss (Suntec, Plaza Sing) - Basic package: $2K. Very hard selling. We signed up at their road show. My personal opinion is their gowns are more towards to taiwanese style, heard that they import their gowns from Malay...
